Ana Strangebird
Hey there! I’m Ana Strangebird, a tattoo artist born and raised in Virginia Beach. Before tattooing, I worked in mental health and substance use recovery, so staying person-centered in my art practice is important to me. Social media has changed how many of us connect, but tattoo conventions feel like a breath of fresh air; you can meet an artist in person and quickly figure out if they are a fit for your project and I get to meet other artists, locals, and travelers in a weekend. I like to think I’m a good time, but you should decide that for yourself!
My tattoo work is expressive and fine-art–influenced, guided by thoughtful composition, intentional placement, and bold use of color and line. My custom work is designed to compliment the person wearing it and I always have pre-drawn flash available. I comfortably work in color, or black and grey, from fine line to American traditional. Some of my favorite projects are cover-ups or reworks of older tattoos. Like my music taste, my art preference is “more”. I’m not so much married to a style as I am the experience with my clients.
